Brown and Black Belt Lessons

Brown and black belt lessons will recommence next month. Lessons will be held at Yeovil College, from 12:00 - 14:00 on those Sundays when the disabled sports club have use of the hall. Check Calendar for dates.

Brown belts are reminded that they should attend all brown and black belt lessons and that it is their responsibility to ensure that they know when these lessons are. Students unable to attend for reasons beyond their control should inform a senior instructor, preferable beforehand, otherwise as soon as possible afterwards. Anyone missing a lesson without good reason, or missing more than 50% for any reason will not be permitted to grade.

Note there will not be a brown and black belt lesson on 17 October (as previously shown on the Calendar) due to the closeness of grading.

British Sports Martial Arts Premiership

Sempai Natalie Hughes overcame very strong competition to take first place in junior Japanese forms. The victory means Sempai Hughes becomes grand champion, 2004 in that category.

Other students performed very well, some achieving personal bests, but failed to win any trophies.

Yeovil - Sundays

Yeovil College sports hall is not available on Sundays. Alternative arrangements are being investigated, however, for the time being, there will be no lessons in Yeovil on a Sunday.

21 Jun 2004
Yeovil

Following a decision by Fiveways Centre to stop hiring out their sport hall for outside use, Somerset Karate will no longer train at Fiveways Centre after the end of June.

From Thursday, 1 July, we will be training at Yeovil College on Thursday and Friday evenings. See Yeovil page for new timetable.

We hope to continue Sunday morning lessons, also at Yeovil college, but this has yet to be arranged.

The times and location of brown belt lessons is under review.

Due to insufficient numbers, additional Sunday lessons (sparring, kata and optional senior grades lessons) are suspended until further notice.

We apologize for any inconvenience; if you have any questions or concerns, please contact an instructor.
